Many thanks to Alexx at rcboisjoli studios for helping me with this project. Here’s a look at the process involved:

A plaster mold is made using a form made from wood

Porcelain slip is poured into the mold. Once it's dried it’s placed in the kiln for a bisque firing

After the first of three firings, it’s rough edges are sanded off. A clear glaze is applied before going back into the kiln for the glaze firing

Decals are made to fit the glazed tile, applied, and back into the kiln for a final low-fire

One of A Kind starts today!

Another collaboration between myself and rcboisjoli! These silk-screened beer label inspired decals decorate beautiful rcboisjoli porcelain bottles and are available at The One of a Kind Show, November 28th to December 8th, at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place.
